Am I Running Out of Hot Water?
There have been a million situations where many people did not have enough hot water for our needs and had to deal with those unpleasant few seconds or minutes where they had to use cold water to complete their task.
There can be several reasons why you could be having hot water problems. If you manage to determine how you are running out of water, you may be able to solve it using our guide. Below we have listed some of the most common hot water problem occurrences and the ways to deal with them.
Is There Something Wrong With my Boiler
Water Comes Out Both Hot and Cold
If you are having this issue, where your water is randomly running either cold or hot, you may have a problem with sediment built-up. It usually occurs in the water heater tank and it leaves less space for hot water inside the tank.
One of the ways to deal with the problem is flushing and draining your tank; you can do this either yourself or get a professional to help you. If the problem keeps occurring after the procedure, chances are that too much sediment has already built up in the tank and that it’s time to replace it and get a new one.
Water Runs Cold Quickly
The majority of water heaters have two heating locations, one at the top and one at the bottom. The bottom heating element keeps the water in the boiler at a consistent temperature while the top heating element constantly heats water near the top.
If your bottom heating element is not working properly, then your heater can only rely on the small amounts of hot water produced by your top heating element. The best solution: replace the broken part and have both heating elements working again.
Water Never Above Lukewarm Temperature
The water heater has a part called a dip tube, which pushes any new cold water coming to the boiler into the bottom, to be heated by the bottom element. However, if the tube is broken or malfunctioning, the incoming cold water mixes up with the entire heater, leaving your water constantly warm and never hot enough, unless you wait for a long time.
If the dip tube is broken, it can be replaced by a professional. Completing this task should be relatively cheap, quick, and easy.
You Run Out of Hot Water Before Everybody Is Done
Ever experienced this problem? Many people have.
Unfortunately, the most obvious reason for this problem is that the water heater is simply too small. Too many people require more hot water capacity than can be offered. The simplest solution to this boiler problem is to buy a bigger heater and say goodbye to all the domestic squabbling about hot water.
